Union Jack Dresser

I am almost finished painting this dresser.  There are some touch ups needed.  Frog tape works, but there is still "bleed through".  A couple coats of varathane and the dresser will be done!

Union Jack Dresser-before!

I have had this little dresser sitting around for quite awhile.  The flat brown paint does absolutely nothing for it.  Believe it or not, the handles are solid brass under that pink paint-I will keep them for another project.

I have seen a lot of dressers finished with the "Union Jack" and thought that this dresser is the prefect shape for it. I know it is trendy but what the heck.

We have to do something for fun once in a while!

I will post a dresser photo tomorrow. It isn't finished yet, but almost there!

Chair Closeup

This is such a pretty chair. The finish is smooth and soft to the touch.  Sanding between coats of paint and varathane really does make such a difference.

Desk

This little desk is another example of  "poor man's oak" finish.   A good sanding will usually let the original wood show through.  It was a pleasant surprise to find a maple top.

I painted the desk a light green, distressed and finished with two coats of water based varathane.  The chair has new upholstery.
