Before/After China Cabinet

Before
I have started another china cabinet conversion.  As usual I forgot to take a "before" picture.   By the time I remembered we had already removed the side panels.  I put the door back in and    one panel for a picture.  So....this is what I started with.

After
And this is the cabinet so far.  I still have to sand, wax and put the doors on.

Look at those handles!! I thought that they would have to be painted but after a bit of polishing-brass!  The drawer is all wood so I sanded and varnished it to get it in better shape than new.

I will post pictures of the completed cabinet along with another one I am working on.

Wild Winter Weather

This is the view from our kitchen window.  The shed is only 50 feet away from the house and at times it is hard to see!
A good day to stay at home and work on refinishing furniture.  I have two china cabinets in the basement that I am working on.

We have already removed the door and the side panels to open up the storage space.  This cabinet doesn't have a drawer so I am removing the small decorative cross brace and replacing it with a shelf.  This way you will be able to use baskets for extra storage space.

I sold this cabinet today to a young person just starting out.  She said that she was hunting for a couch but decided she wanted this cabinet more!  I really loved this cupboard.  It has such pretty carving on the front and the drawer pulls reminded me of drop ear rings.  It is a soft warm yellow (my favourite colour).  I hope that she enjoys it.

I sold a cabinet today, loaded it onto a truck and said good bye.  Things were getting a bit crowded in the house.  I confess that I still have 5 cabinets in the house, although 1 is sold!

I just completed this cabinet, or should I say Dan did.  Dan manufactures and hangs the new doors for me.

This cabinet is a soft yellow with stipple glass
