Feminine Dresser with Attitude

So this is what I started on Monday when I couldn't get into work.

I still have one more coat of paint to apply, but I think that it is sooo cute I just had to share!

  

I painted the drawer sides blue...just for fun!  This dresser is from the 70s. It used to be white with gold trim and believe it or not the fronts are plastic!  I sanded them, primed them and then painted.  The dresser is very solid.

Before

 I have started another china cabinet conversion.  As usual I forgot to take a "before" picture.   By the time I remembered we had already removed the side panels.  I put the door back in and    one panel for a picture.  So....this is what I started with.

And this is the cabinet so far.  I still have to sand, wax and put the doors on.

Look at those handles!! I thought that they would have to be painted but after a bit of polishing-brass!  The drawer is all wood so I sanded and varnished it to get it in better shape than new.

  

I will post pictures of the completed cabinet along with another one I am working on.

Wild Winter Weather

This is the view from our kitchen window.  The shed is only 50 feet away from the house and at times it is hard to see!
A good day to stay at home and work on refinishing furniture.  I have two china cabinets in the basement that I am working on.

We have already removed the door and the side panels to open up the storage space.  This cabinet doesn't have a drawer so I am removing the small decorative cross brace and replacing it with a shelf.  This way you will be able to use baskets for extra storage space.

I just completed this little vanity.  I am so pleased with it.  I had painted it black but it was just too harsh for such a dainty piece.

This makeup table is 63 inches tall, 40 inches wide and 18 inches deep.  The mirror is in perfect condition with no scratches or bubbles.  The drawers are in very good condition and are 100% wood-no masonite here!

Details are accented with shading.  The original handles are a faux coral.  Don't you just love the bench with the funky fabric?

BlueJays in the backyard

The birds are busy at the feeders today.  It is so cold that they need the food for energy.

We have about 6 Bluejays scaring away the other birds!  Such pretty bullies!
