Classic Dining Room Chairs

Before I begin to paint any piece of furniture, I sand it, re-glue, and prime.

I took a facebook poll and everyone voted for the grey/black stripe fabric.  I am very pleased with "the peoples choice"

                      

 

These classically styled chairs are painted with Benjamin Moore Aura Semi-Lustre.  The set consists of one armchair and five dining room chairs.

Small Secretary Desk

I am still working on this little desk.  I ordered a replacement lock with key and it is amazing that the reproduction is so much like the original.   A good design is worth keeping. 

I have painted this desk a soft blue with a darker blue under the front scrolling to add depth.  I hope to have this finished and for sale soon. 

 

Upholstered Set of Chairs

I have finally upholstered the set of Strathroy Furniture Chairs.  I will post better pictures and a full description later this week.  There are six chairs in the set.  I first covered the seats with new underpadding, muslin and then the outer fabric.  It was a long day but I just love the results.

Petite Secretary Desk

My New Project!

This pretty little 'secretary' has been ignored for quite a few years.  This desk is another example of "poor mans oak".  The piece is made of a number of different types of wood and was painted to look like oak.

There was only one door guide left, and it was bent and unable to support the desktop.

I have ordered a reproduction lock and key, and am hoping it arrives soon.  I want to get the door hung and see what she looks like.  She is a soft blue.
